My original plan in reverse. 3,296 miles by Amtrak: Seattle to Chicago on the Empire Builder, then Chicago to Boston on the Lake Shore Limited. Complete pictures on Flickr.

For future long distance train trips I might not come back to Boston (the lake shore limited is far less appealing then the Empire Builder). However I cannot discount the joy of being in Seattle and realizing that I didn’t have to go through an airport again.

A new beginning 4 years ago

I’ve completed the A2.2 course at the Goethe Institutue. So I have now fulfilled the language requirement to become a German Citizen. I only have all those other pesky requirements left.

I can speak a lot more and with much more confidence. Still very far from wanting to converse with native speakers, but I’m on my way. And not being in Germany I am already forgetting what I learned.

See 183 films in a year (read all 2 entries…)
The only problem is Friends and Social contacts taking away my precious time. 4 years ago

To watch as many films next year, I really need to bunker down over the winter months. When it is much easier to stay inside. I foolishly let February slip by with only 8, after posting record gains in in the 3 months prior. I should set a my goals for 15 each summer month and 20 each winter month.

I’ve also started a cinema habit, going to the theatre every two weeks on average. Double features and student discounts lowered my average per ticket to $6.22 per movie.

Plus next year, I’m thinking of a membership to the Brattle for $75, which gets you 12 tickets and a regular discount of $1.50 after that.

I’m not yet sure what the goal (if any) should be for August 2005 – July 2006. I only came up with this one three months ago, so I have some time.
