I’m over 1/3 of the way to my current goal of 60,000 and I must tell ya, the first 10,000 words were the hardest and what helped me get further was that I focused on writing what I got the most excited about.

How I did it: It was always a goal of mine, and a certain humiliating admission, that I wanted to learn to swim. My biggest issue was floating/maneuvering in water for long periods of time and breathing while swimming. I did it by taking the beginner's swimming class at the local university at the ripe age of 21. Classes were held every Tuesday/Thursday morning and I went to practice at least 2 more times each week. Read how I did it…
How I did it: It started off with borrowing the Cirque du Soleil movies from the local library. It was so incredible seeing all the amazing feats they did, and then hearing about all the new shows they keep coming up with on top of that. That was maybe, 8 years ago.Since then, I started off with seeing the traveling group that came to Wisconsin. Bought some expensive tickets (totally worth it), and treated my then-boyfriend too. … Read how I did it…
How I did it: I went to an in-state university and got enough credits to transfer to my acupuncture school where I got my joint B.S. Nutrition and M.S. Oriental Medicine. I took out a lot of school loans to pay for it while also working to make enough to support myself financially out of school as I had to live on my own. I also made sure I had a lot of fun ... maybe too much, but you have to relieve the tension sometimes. Read how I did it…

Current word count for my first book: 12,471. Current word goal is 65,000 but if my book concludes before then, I won’t be too mad – it is what it is.
I don’t know what my sight is in Snelling terms but in diopters (?) it’s -4.25/-4.00 according to my current contact lens prescription which was made 2 to 3 years ago.
I have for about two months now been trying to use my glasses/contact lenses as little as possible and trying not to concentrate on a close-up item (like the TV or computer screen) for too long of a period. I have noticed some progress, maybe not significant but I think it proves that my methods are paying off a little in that I don’t have to have my face so close to the computer screen (4 inches further about) in order to read stuff.
Now, if I used the program I bought (for $97+ shipping) on a consistent basis, I think I would have made more progress. The only thing I’m a bit scared about (which is probably holding me back from getting better vision) is that I’ll have to fork over a lot of money to get my eyes checked constantly and getting new prescriptions on glasses.
It would probably be faster and easier to get LASIK, but the process freaks me out a bit. So what I’m saying is—I’m going to give the program I bought a solid 30-day run and get back to you about the progress.
