Sometime after writing my last entry I stopped running because I wanted to do more yoga, salsa dancing and swimming instead (not a bad excuse, eh?). Still my running shoes were staring at me, accusingly. So I decided to give it another go late 2010/early 2011. Which went reasonably well, until my running buddy had to give up due to physical issues. Running on my own is too hard to do sometimes… Still I might take up this goal again; I seem to have flashes of inspiration when it comes to running. So I’m keeping this on the list.

How I did it: Almost every night for 3 months I would get out my meditation pillow, put on some relaxing music and meditate. Some days were better than others, but charting my progress here on 43things really helped me stick to this goal. In the end, though, life got too busy and I stopped doing this.At the beginning of 2011 I decided to change my tactics: in addition to my regular yoga classes I now practice yoga each morning at home. This way I … Read how I did it…
How I did it: A friend had invited me over ages ago, but I kept putting this trip off. Partly because I had other trips coming up, partly because I was a bit unsure about going on my own: although I am an experienced traveler I wasn't sure I would feel safe enough to traipse through town on my own, especially after reading quite a few horror stories about women being harassed. It turned out my fears were quite unfounded as I had a great time, meeting l… Read how I did it…
How I did it: I decided to go for a yoga retreat in my own country first- this way I could figure out whether or not this was something for me without risking being stuck somewhere across the globe. I googled a bit and found a retreat that looked great: combination of yoga and forest walks, great location, good food. And it really was great! In fact I loved it so much that I went 3 times: in summer 2010, late autumn 2010 and early spring… Read how I did it…

...am getting better at this. Or at least: it’s easier to define the causes of me not going to bed on time and doing something about it (like sternly reminding myself of my bedtime). Also, knowing that I will be wanting to do yoga in the mornings really motivates me to try and get to bed on time.
...and still going strong! I may have skipped a day or 2, but not many. And it really helps me get out of bed. :D
