Well, seeing as I am a first time parent… with no experience with younger siblings, I see tantrums as the worst! My friends have told me it only gets worse from here. Hope that’s not true!
If it’s time to do something (like brush teeth or go to bed) and she doesn’t want to do it right then, it’s screaming, kicking and falling back on the ground. Sometimes it’s stomping, but always with the “no mommy!”
Doctor said the best way to deal is to ignore her. But of course, this is a young pediatrician whose child is not throwing tantrums. And you have to be able to stand the screaming and crying.

My daughter pretends to be counting, so I count with her and before I say seven, she says it. She knows “one, two, three” very well. Last night she said “squeeze” as I was squeezing the water out of her wash cloth.
She’s also learned to fib… she wanted a band-aid and when I asked her where her ouchie was, she pointed to her hand. No ouchie there, but I gave her the band-aid and a kiss all better. Two minutes later she wanted a new band-aid.

My 20 month old daughter is into hugs… every time she hears the Barney theme song she comes to me with arms wide open and says “HUG”. I love it. I wish all the days of our lives are like that.
I love watching her dance to music or pretend she’s reading a book or coloring with her crayons… it seems like all of life’s pressures and stresses no longer matter when I’m with her.
It’s so amazing the things (and how quickly) a child can learn. Her newest words are “sunny” and “Daddy sleeping”.
