A question about this goal: http://good-habit.blogspot.com/ Can you list your worst habits to overcome? Those that are making you unhappy in the long run. 1 year ago

Jessica wise beyond my ears…

The worst thing you can do is hold a grudge, against any situation or anyone. Let go of bad feelings, they will only hurt you. Give your (deserving) loved ones a clean slate.
Also choose your battles; don’t sweat the small shit.
Good luck.

1) Judging others
2) failing to be grateful
3) not taking responsibility for my choices
4) giving less than I get OR more than I have
5) Not forgiving

You can’t always overcome your bad habits. Some will always be there. Some are what make you, you. But the only thing I can tell you that helped me… Let go of feeling bad. It’s a little easier than you might think. Decide that you are going to stop feeling sorry for yourself. Decide that you are going to stop being negative about life. Decide that you are going to take the positive spin on life. You have to put your whole heart into it. You have to whole-heartedly decide that you really want that happiness. Just let go. That’s all I can say. LET GO.

Glad you mentioned that, Ellie. I was about to launch into a little confessional, and maybe indulge in some guilt. (lol) I’ll still list a foul five:

1. laziness
2. self-pity
3. giving loose rein to mine anger
4. speaking too soon
5. not speaking up forthrightly when the opportunity presents itself.

I’m thinking too, that time spent on the net when other duties are neglected, is a bad habit. Since it’s Saturday today, I’ll forgive myself that at least till the morrow.

Over-analyzing, needless worrying – sometimes you just have to try and relax and then things will naturally get better without straining to control every part of your life

Please believe me. I am not over-analyzing. To change myself is… interesting. Actually I am feeling better as time is passing and I am excited what will happen in the future.
Probably this is the most important part of our life, maybe it is the goal of it, to change ourself.
Although it is quite difficult to struggle with myself. But I hope that I will win myself.

I didn’t mean you specifically, just that that is a habbit of mine that I would like to overcome. Sometimes one has to stop analyzing and enjoy what is

Tree is studying and exploring.

The bad habits that are going to affect my happiness in the long run are:

1) maintaining a sedentary lifestyle;
2) being too hard on myself about my weight and appearance (this prevents me from performing and sometimes even going in public); and,

I’m much happier with my life and myself than I ever have been, but I see the aforementioned things as threats to my happiness. I have more good days than bad, which is why I feel I’ve achieved my happiness goal, but there are still dark days when poor self-esteem and ill health resurface and make me feel miserable.

Cal Have a blessed new year.

You have good answers so far, I would say:

1. Thinking about myself, I am not so important that the world revolves around me. There is a God and I am not Him.

2. Not having a forgiving attitude, you can include holding a grudge here. I will not grant anyone the right to live rent free in my head!

3. I may or may not be responsible for those things that “happen” to me, but I am most assuredly responsible for how I react to them. I am responsible for my actions.

4. Not doing my best. I must remember to do my best in every situation, not just “get by”. Do I want a life of value, or something that one can get at Wal-Mart?

5. I need to keep an open mind, while holding to my core principles. People do not have to live up to my expectations, but I am responsible to try and help someone that is engaged in self destructive behavior.

Instead of focusing on what bad habits you could overcome, what would it be like for you to focus on what good habits you could strengthen?

You get what you focus on.

If I focus on lack, I get more lack.
If I focus on abundant happinness , I get more abundant happiness!

I use the five steps in Joe Vitale’s Attractor Factor
Step 1: Know What You Don’t Want
Step 2: Know What You Do Want
Step 3: Get Clear
Step 4: Feel Your Intention Already Achieved
Step 5: Let Go

Go here for the free pdf of Spiritual Marketing the first version of the book

the updated version is called The Attractor Factor available at Amazon, B&N all over!

Be Happy!

There is really only one bad habit to overcome, which is pretty much the root of all other bad habits. Its not being willing to let go. Let go of: judgements, negative thoughts, the idea that you have to be “successful”, that you have to “hold down a job”, the idea that you are allowed to have bad days, trying to live forever, goals. We don’t always have to be right, either. ;) If something is holding you back, learn to leap anyway, and the net will appear.

Be flexible.. thats one key to happiness.. when we refuse to change or fail to accept the changes.. we feel like the whole world is against us.. it’s not the world.. it is just you.. so accept the changes.. and try to find good in things..
