Just finished a four week tour of Vietnam, South Korea, and Japan and I couldn’t possibly recommend the experience more. Being in places where I can hardly speak a lick of the local language is humiliating, yet always empowering to realize you can still get around and make things happen. These sorts of experiences become life changing.

Some people complain about the self-absorption of David Eggers but I think you have to keep in mind the reality of loss that any person in these shoes endures. We each deal with it in our own ways, none more valid than others. I feel he offers a poignant, often painful insight into his personal process of coping with grief, something for which I was grateful. Highly recommended.
