I was fortunate enough to become a part of an accelerated licensure program through my state. Six months ago I was writing accounting programs, now I’m finishing the first half of a school year teaching 8th grade pre-algebra. I’m exhausted, but very fulfilled by my new career choice.

I left the corporate ladder to teach 8th grade math. It isn’t easy at all and I’m having a rough first year, but I am doing something I believe in and that makes all of the difference in the world.
Other than giving blood (which requires much less dedication), this is the most “giving of myself” that I’ve ever done in such a direct manner. You get a nice postcard, certificate and a cute haircut after those awfully long locks. I think it’s worth it to do once.
