I’m giving up this goal since I completed the other goal of quitting my job, and now have no job to get a raise in.

I’ve done this (sort of) and I just wanted to let everybody know that it is worth the agony of working on it. I think it’s been about 6 months for me now, and about 6 months before that, and before that it was every day for many many months, so I’d say I’ve pretty much stopped. My advice is to take it one time period at a time (I’d say one day, but sometimes it’s just one minute) and don’t beat yourself up over it when you do.
Of course coming out is a journey that never ends, but for the purposes of having a point where I can say I’ve completed this goal, I think I’m about 9/10 of the way there. A few weeks ago for National Coming Out Day/Ally Week, I participated in a program in front of a huge portion of my school entitled “Guess the Straight Person” (guess which one I wasn’t _). I really feel right now like all I have left is my parents, and maybe my best friend since forever that I don’t talk to more than once or twice a year.
