Derrick Tabb is bringing new hope to New Orleans through music. After Hurricane Katrina forced people to start their lives elsewhere, Derrick feared that the loss of music classes in many schools would change the fabric of the city’s culture. Derrick paired up with Allison Reinhardt and created the Roots of Music to teach kids an instrument, give them a meal, encourage them in school and bring them a sense of pride and community through band practice. All of this is provided free of charge, and as you can imagine, the waiting list is huge. Read more about Derrick or check out the Roots of Music organization!

Doc considers himself to be just a “regular guy” who worked as a bartender in North Carolina. In 2003, Doc created a fundraiser to bring clean water to Darfur. The success he had with the fundraiser coupled with the need that he saw in Darfur brought him to expand his fundraising efforts into a new career as the leader of a non-profit organization Wine to Water.
I am only one but still I am one.
I cannot do everything but still I can do something.
I will not refuse to do the something I can do.
