I used some of my tax rebate to buy the Rosetta-Stone tagalog program, level 1 & 2. So far I’m on the third unit and, although it’s effective, it only seems to be teaching my obscure statements. I still couldn’t say “Hello, how are you?” But I could say “There’s two little girls chasing a white bird.” I’m not sure if this is a good thing or not.
Also there’s absolutely NO English translation, so it can make figuring out what you’re saying fairly difficult. It seems that this is done on purpose though, as one of the elements of the program.
It helps that I work with quite a few of Filipinos though, so this helps.
