How I did it: I joined a community orchestra and downloaded Suzuki lesson books and started learning on my own.  Now 2 months into it, I have learned basic techniques and I can play songs that I want (not complex classical pieces!), and that's good enough to make me happy... since I don't intend to be a concert violinist or anything like that. Always have a phone camera on your side. On happy days it’s easy but there were those uninspiring, bad, awful days and I thought, oh snap, I had to take picture of something and still be creative at it, so I just soldiered on for awhile and before I knew it the year was over!
