Well, amazing things happen when you keep trying. I have been looking to get involved with adult literacy education and now finally I am on a waiting list in two literacy centres for interview and hopefully training in the autumn. In the meantime, I will be in Greece scoping out the import/export scene whilst studying the language. I am also on a notification list for a certificate in training and development..I would be a trainer then.
The really really wonderful news is that I met someone who is interested in assisting me in my journey. It is not something major, but it was simply an experienced listening ear who understood what I wanted and could see me as a member of this career that they are also part of. It was a suggestion of connecting me with people in the field of trainng and development and perhaps coaching too. It was an offer of some work experience as a trainer under her experienced guidance…it was support and interest and an energising boost just when I needed it most. It just made me get on that waiting list, do some more research about certificates and realise more and more that this is what I want to do and I am not a crazy for wanting it…there are people in this field who feel the same way as I do!!
It is: to help people to further their potential, to develop skills and to educate themselves all in an effort to increase their lot and move towards empowerment. The idea that people can learn how to learn, can develop themselves, can pinpoint either practical skills that mean that they can support their families and give themselves dignity…or that they can move further from that and learn how to interact and learn from each other and how to pass on their skills and facilitate some education in those around them. I want to help with this, I want to be a part of this, I want to help shape this.
