This is funny, in a weird sense. As a student (highschool) I assumed that I would get more sleep during the summer … you know, less stress, less homework, all that good stuff … but noooo, now I’m lying in bed at nearly 3-4am thinking about nothing at all … at least during the school year I had an excuse!

In high/middle class British families in the 1800’s-early 1900’s it was common for the eldest daughter (at least) to be sent to a finishing school, or to be mentored by a respectable older woman in order to learn how to conduct herself properly … This is relavent only because one of the methods used on these girls was to tie a board to their backs to improve their posture. While talking to my chiropractor I learnt that the same sentiment can help improve posture today … without the board. He (the doctor) told me to sit with my back flat/flush against the wall and my legs stretched out in front of me for at least half-an-hour every day. It isn’t hard, you can do it while watching tv, or whatever, and it actually helps, try it :)
I know that my first few entries in this category were rather… well, depressing. I just wanted to say thanks for the awesome response and support.
So, I’ve come across an interesting concept. I have recently bumped into a friend whom I have not seen for a good 6 years. We went for a coffee together and ended up spending the whole afternoon and a good deal of the evening talking. When she asked whether I have a boyfriend, I must have had an odd expression on my face, because she added “or girlfriend?”. I surprised myself when I answered “if only…” and laughted it off. She was fine with my being gay, it made no difference at all. And I wasn’t afraid to tell her. I think that was because I am not afriad of being rejected by her because we had not been very close.
So, I can tell near-strangers, but not my family or friends. Well, there is something to work on :)
