About Making Spaghetti

I already know how to do this! And I’m so glad because it’s easy to make spaghetti, and you can make it fancy too. Experiment with linguine or penne. I recommend penne for kids because there is no twirling involved.

About Connotea

Connotea is a form of social bookmarking software aimed at scientists (although other academic disciplines are using the service as well). It allows you to store, classify and search links to sites that you frequest.

Connotea is specialized (compared to, for example, del.icio.us or CiteULike) because it has the ability to recognize and collect metadata from certain scientific websites.

When saving bookmarks, users use tags and descriptions to classify their links. The system recognizes which users are using the same tags, and can connect them.

Connotea also incorporates RSS feeds into the boomarks.

Finally, one of its most useful features is the ability to export references into a citation managera program, allowing users to save their bibkliographic sources as they go.

About Technorati

Technorati is a search enginge for blogs. At present, it has indexed over 55 million blogs. Technorati allows you to keep a watchlist to keep track of a particular subject, as it is discussed in blogs. Their search also allows you to specify the degree of authority you want in your results, meaning that you can demand a blog with “a lot of authority” on a particular subject. A search for information on the cervical cancer vacine from blogs with “a lot of authority” returned one result, from a Canadian news site. Repeating the search with only “some authority” brought forth 9 results.

A very useful site!
