One of the most important issues regarding smoking cessation for me is the oral fixation. The cravings and emotional side effects can mostly be controlled by using the patch, but the habit of feeling the need to have a cigarette in hand still needs to be overcome. I dealt with this by substituting other, healthier habits for smoking; such as eating sunflower seeds, or chewing gum. If you replace the bad habit with a healthy one when you feel the cravings, eventually you’ll rewire your brain to replace bad habits with healthy ones.

How I did it: Flavored water is great isn't it? But it's so expensive. I just get the little packets of flavoring to put in the water, and the taste makes me want to drink more water. I prefer Propel Lemon, Grape, and Mixed Berry. Read how I did it…
How I did it: There's a book called The Artist's Way by Julie Cameron. It's a 12 week program to become more in tune with yourself and letting your creativity flow. There are weekly "Artist Dates" (two hours taken out of each week for something that you enjoy- alone), and "Morning Pages" (or daily journaling), tasks to complete, exercises that seek to realize and heal the wounds of the artist.
