This past summer, I visited Egypt. So now I can check Africa off my list and look forward to South America and Antarctica!!!!!!

How I did it: I researched different sponsorship programs and decided to go with World Vision. Then I searched their site for a child that I could feel a connection with. We searched our wedding date and found a little girl born exactly 3 years before we got married. It was like fate and we couldn't turn away from her. How I did it: As a teacher, I started a campaign called, "DO Something...Get a New 'DO!" and spread the word at school, hoping to get maybe 10 kids to donate their hair with me. The kids started signing up and before I knew it, it got a life of its own! I called some professional stylists to volunteer to give us new "DOs." Thanks to 43 things, I forced myself to make a list of things I wanted to start accomplishing. And I have officially succeeded at pursuing something off the list. YAY!
I met her in Amsterdam on Canada Day, 1998ish, just outside the Anne Frank house. She was so nice and let me take some pictures with her. She was shorter than I expected but she was extremely gracious and friendly. I was particularly polite (good Canadian ambassador) and so I think that helped.
