How I did it: Didn't renew my cable contract, locked the digital box in the understairs cupboard and now have only 4 channels!I watch things that I like online and listen to music or the radio if I want some background noise! When I feel like putting on the TV I read a book or a newspaper....or I just go out and have a life!!! Read how I did it…
The flights are booked, the tickets are booked, even the hostels are booked…looks like I’m ready to get most of it done!
I start my journey in Halifax in September, travelling onto Quebec City, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Winnipeg, Edmonton, Jasper and finally ending up in Vancouver in mid October!!!
I’m staying in Canada for a year and hope to get the chance to travel the Jasper-Prince Rupert and Victoria-Courtenay routes. I’m also planning to head up to Alaska to travel the Whitepass and Yukon Railway. Unfortunately I don’t think funds will stretch to include the Winnipeg-Churchill stretch, looks like I’ll have to save Polar Bear Country for another time :(
It might not be the WHOLE Trans-Canadian Railway but I think coast to coast is a pretty good start :)
