I like to keep busy and have a lot of interests. I am constantly pulling out articles and mail that I think I will get to. There always seems to be something better to do than go through mail and paperwork. Therefore I have an office and, to a lesser extent, a life that is a bit messier than I would like. So this is on my list now. My office is beginning to scare me.

I heard about a couple of sites that may be of interest to budding writers at my fiction class – see http://www.misssnark.com/ and it also has links to other blogging literary agents – a very useful site for learning about the industry, what is hot, what isn’t. Let me know if you have others to add to this list but I am really looking forward to digging into the archives so that I can hopefully avoid some “rookie” mistakes.
I am wondering if other people have had trouble making time in their lives for writing. I realized that I have too and am trying to capture inspiration and ideas effectively so that, when I do figure out the time thing, I will have some inspiration at hand. Any suggestions about this would be appreciated.
Also, I have had a tragedy in my extended family recently. An adopted nephew was shot to death, he was only 20 years old. I pulled out old photos over the weekend and was struck by one in particular. He was standing inside with Mardi Gras beads on, probably around 13 years old, and a sign was posted on the window by his head that said “Watch your step.” This applied to him in so many ways because he was reckless and in trouble, but I never expected something this horrible and always held out hope that he would pull his act together as he matured. He never got a chance to. I can’t stop thinking about him and how it must have been for him to die like that.
I’ve got angst and anxiety around other family and friends and perhaps I can use this as a stress reliever if I write about it. I would almost like to write a story about my nephew to honor him too.
