Natural Remedies: Light box (for seasonal affective disorder), 5-HTP, flax oil (6 g/day), regular exercise

Talk therapy: a clinical social worker helped me change my life

Book: Undoing Depression by Richard O’Connor

Rx Anti-Depressants:
Wellbutrin – kicked the depression although it killed my appetite
Zoloft – initially helped the depression, but at increased doses sent my anxiety level through the roof

5-HTP 23 months ago

My SAD came later this year, since I moved south, but come it did. I started taking 5-HTP 10 days ago and it’s making me feel totally normal again. I started feeling better only 2 days after starting it and the only side effect for me is vivid dreams.



Get to know myself
Changing careers 23 months ago

I’ve spent all of my adult life thinking that I was going to do one thing and now I realize that it’s just not possible for me. I need to do something else, but I’m not sure what. I’ve applied for law school, but I want to keep my options open for a little while until I figure out what kind of career best suits me.

I got a book called Do What You Are which is very insightful. It uses the Myers-Briggs personality typing to give you an idea of what kinds of careers best suit your personality. It’s opening my eyes to careers that I hadn’t thought of and validating some of the impressions I had of jobs that I might like.
