Escaping capitalism: doesn’t that require space outside of capitalist control? Land, a tunnel, an island, somewhere that we can be left alone in peace, not coerced by capitalism’s violent enforcers.
There are technological options for autonomous production that you don’t know about because capitalist technological research only pursues profitable technologies. For example: wood eating insects can serve as a food source for us humans. We could survive underground without a field to farm, by scavenging wood from trees. Another example: you can build an airplane out of dirt; does that sound impossible? Only impossible if your reality, including your view of engineering, has been constructed to make you servile. In fact, clays contain around 20% aluminum versus the 40% of commercial aluminum ore, and during WWII some countries smelted aluminum from clay; the energy requirements are higher, so it isn’t profitable, but it is possible. How much of what you believe is impossible is in fact actually unprofitable?

Are you a slave? Will you work your life away to serve a system that crushes people? I want to give you all the shelter, food, clothing, and other goods you need to live. If you had the choice of leaving the capitalist system, wouldn’t you take it? Work or starve…but I want to remove the starvation option, and give you the ability to work at whatever you want.
How? Industrial autonomy. Industrial autonomy is the study of developing technologies that serve the wishes of small autonomous communities.
Does engineering control your life? Is engineering merely a boring mathematical subject, or is it an instrument of capitalist domination? I propose that we build a small scale industrial base that converts capitalist engineering technologies into manufacturing machines that serve us.
Is capitalism the problem? I see capitalism as only one aspect of a deeper problem: machines and mechanical organizations dominate our lives. My goal is to reconquer machines, to force machines to serve our human goals, and end slavery to the machine.
I propose going underground, traveling in stealth, using new technologies to achieve a high standard of living without accepting capitalist servitude. Can you help me? I could give you engineering problems to solve, graphic designs to create, writings to copy-edit.
Industrial autonomy to do list…
Excavation, geotechnical engineering, structural analysis, electricity generation, machine tool fabrication, ventilation & air cleaning, techniques for scavenging, metals recycling, chemical engineering, composite materials manufacturing, metalworking, and many other technical problems.

Is escaping a technological problem? To leave society, don’t we need new technologies to produce the things we need, such as food, housing, clothing, and so on?
Do we wish to escape from violence? Isn’t violence at the core of oppression? Who controls what land, who works and who is served, who dictates the school curriculum, and who controls information; isn’t it all ultimately based on the control of violence? If we wish to escape then don’t we need more than a place to go, don’t we need strategies to escape the panopticon and the police, and the unseen servility implanted in our minds?
