I’m a few months over 27 now and I feel like I’m going on 49. It’s like I just got old overnight! One day I was cute and young and planning some fabulous life, then suddenly I’m facing the fact that I’ll probably never do most of the stuff I wanted. It’s really depressing. I hope it’s just a phase. I really am too young to feel this old!

We saw the Nutcracker Suite performed by a local ballet school. I really enjoyed it. I had never seen a ballet before and had only seen pieces of the nutcracker on tv. The dancers were beautiful. There were a few professionals doing some of the harder parts, but the majority of the cast were children, some younger than Rachel. I wish I had continued with dance when I was younger. Of course, everytime I see a show, I get all wistful and think, “I could be doing that.”
Tristan’s brother lives in Colorado springs and his wife flew us all out there to surprise him. I’ve heard stories about Pikes Peak and couldn’t wait to see it. The first two days we were there it was so foggy the peak was invisible. It was a little eerie to me imagining this huge towering mountain right in front of me (or above me) but I couldn’t see it. I was so disappointed! Then on the third day, I woke up and looked out the window and it was amazing. It’s so big. There’s not even words to describe how impressed I was. We went to Garden of the Gods and I stared up at the mountain the whole time. I have this mental image of myself standing on the top of that peak and looking beyond it to the Rockies stretched out forever. I fell so in love with Pikes Peak I decided to move out there. I don’t know when but someday I want to live in Colorado. I think it would be very humbling and inspiring to wake up to that sight every day. It was hard to leave buton the way home, we flew directly over the Rockies! I was like a little kid on the plane. I was practically glued to the window the entire time. What an amazing perspective! I’ll never forget it!
