Hooray! I have 2 friends in this new town (more if you count my coworkers and people I don’t keep in contact with), but 2 bonafide friends. Not too bad, as friends are difficult to come by, and true friends even harder. My true friends are so very very far away, and now I have 2 potentials right here in town. WOOHOO.

Not just any woman, but Hillary Rodham Clinton. 2008. I’m campaigning to the best of my ability even now, as she’s trying to get reelected in the Senate. I proudly drive my car with my Hill Country bumper sticker and talk to anyone I can. Senator Clinton has my vote because of her politics, not because of her sex, but I can completely revel in the thoughts of what would change in the world when the most powerful person in the world is a woman.
It took me awhile to come to terms with the reality that I would major in education; that I would teach. I’ve spent my 30 years on the planet advocating a good education for every person, and complaining about the ability of obtaining one in some parts of the world, including this, the United States. I bit the bullet, decided I would work for a very low salary because I would love what I was doing as a teacher. I will start changing education within my own circle of students, such that it becomes the socially desirable thing to learn more and more. I may not change the whole world, but I will try.
