Some time within the next hour I’ll be smoking my last cigarette and making the journey to becoming a non-smoker (not an ex-smoker!)

When the urge hits, I’ll be telling myself that non-smokers DO NOT SMOKE, and that it is just an urge, and nobody ever died from an urge, and it will pass.

I also plan on keeping my hands & mind busy with work, so this should also be the beginning of a super productive time in my life.

The first busy work will be scrubbing out the ash trays and filling them with candy. Not for me, but as gifts to my family for Christmas, which will be my way of letting them know I have quit.

I think this is the greatest gift any smoker can give to their family and themselves.

One fortunate thing about my situation is that I can’t run to the store and buy a pack. My brand isn’t the normal stuff and I have been purchasing them online. I shouldn’t have a problem with caving in and ordering some, since it would take 10 days for them to arrive. And if I can wait an additional 10 days to smoke them, I can wait forever, so ordering them would be rather pointless.

And there is no chance of me buying a pack of normal cigarettes, since those taste & smell disgusting.

So I will succeed. I think my goal really is to do it without killing anybody. :-P

as of today:

I have 58 books done, 402 to go....but…

One of the sites I was using to link to changed their preview policy, so now you can only preview chapter 1 instead of the full book. That knocks a bunch off the list and now it is no longer 460 to be done to catch up.

But I am going to keep the 460 goal, and just fill in the difference with newer finds.

On another note, I am still doing this, but much slower than I had wanted. The good pc is dead and I am working on an old slow 233mhz, 64mb RAM, P1 on 33.6k dialup, but I am still moving along. It will just take a lot longer to catch up at this rate.

as of today:

I have 45 books done, 415 to go.

I have started tracking this on Joe’s Goals since it is much easier to just click the box every time I add another book. I’ll still report progress here from time to time, but not daily.
