Once I got out on the water and learned how to control my vessel, I was fine. Lot easier than I thought it would be. I look forward to going again when it gets warmer.

How I did it: I trained a little for this one with a few distance walks before hand, but essentially I did the same thing that I had for the 5k I'd participated in the year before. I wore comfortable clothing, made sure I was fueled up, and properly hydrated. I did buy myself a new pair of sneakers, and wore a fanny pack (so I'd have something to carry my belongings in). How I did it: I actually did this as a Charity walk last year for Revlon in Central Park. I registered for the event beforehand. I speed walk and completed the course in about an hour. I didn't do much training. I grab my sneakers, slapped on some sunscreen, fueled up and pounded the pavement. I had my own water bottle, but there was plenty of refreshments to be had along the way. How I did it: I work out a minimum of 4 days a week, for at least 30 minutes to an hour (depending on how much time I have). If it's just 30 minutes, I spend that time focusing on cardio and getting my heart rate in a fat burning range. I walk/jog, swim laps, aquajog, bike (stationary). My life is heading in a different direction, so I’m okay with putting this on hold. But, who knows what the future may bring…
It’s nice to have finally found something that fits. I’m very happy with my choice and I’m learning alot! I feel changed (in a positive way), and that’s about the best feeling there is.
