Need investing advice 9 months ago

I’ve very financially responsible – I don’t make the greatest money, but I always have something in savings and have an excellent credit score. My life is pretty splendid – although it may seem simple to many. I need advice on wise investments for someone young (*22-27 range) to get started on a nice nest egg for a solid down payment on a home. I live in illinois and am learning more about first time home buyer/owner grants available – but I know that I’ll be needing more! (don’t we always?)

i’ve just started researching – and i’d really like to do as much of this on my own as possible – a little for the pride, a LOT for the price – i’m interested to join a community where we can share what we’ve learned!
