So, in the canteen in our university hall, you can get these prepackaged Bakewell slices (a layer of shortbread, a layer of jam, and almond flavoured cake on top). And they are pleasingly uniform in shape and size, and basically perfect building material. So we are going to build a castle out of them. We have to do it by the end of the week though, before the holiday starts.
The plan is to use icing as cement, and to build it on a tray, which will have to be liberated from the canteen.
We’ve been collecting for weeks (they have really long best before dates), so I’ve got 43 under my bed – which should be plenty for a manageably sized castle. Fabulous!

Okay, so I’ve barely touched my guitar for months, and I didn’t bring it to university with me, because I was completely unmotivated about it and couldn’t really remember any of what I’d already learnt. But now that I’m in university halls, I’ve met and made friends with lots of musical people who are inspiring me! I’m visiting home next week, so I’ll pick up my guitar then and hopefully I can get back into practice!
I can’t do this until February :(
I was in Peru during the summer and because of the malarial risk I have to wait until 6 months after I got back. But I’ve got it marked in my diary! I’ll be down the donation centre as soon as I can be.
