I’ve written two small apps from scratch, created one large one by integrating two existing open source applications, and am in the process of finishing a medium size (for Rails) application for a client.
I would recommend Rails to anyone who has the time to try it out. The features in the framework are amazing, as well as the speed at which the framework is developed and new features added.
At the end of the day, I am happier to have worked in Ruby on a Rails application than I am updating websites or doing graphic or flash design (all of which I do for my day job).
