I really enjoyed our three-day camping safari in South Africa. Best moments: discovering wild lions napping in the tall grass, watching elephants by moonlight, and counting giraffes.

I just hit the 20-lb mark and I’m so excited. I’m feeling good and I might actually complete this goal by the end of the year!
I love Irish Dance. It is beyond cool. I’m so glad that I started taking this weekly class with my sister. We did our first dance competition this weekend, and we both took home medals! I won 3 golds! Of course, there’s less competition in the “adult beginner” category, but I’m still pretty proud of us. It makes me feel like a real dancer.
I am so excited to have found this resource:

Now I feel like I am learning Koine in a conversational way. It’s really fun!
I have just discovered the “big breakfast diet,” and I’ve lost 10 pounds! After years of dieting, it’s so nice to have a satisfying breakfast without feeling guilty. Lunch and dinner are low-carb, low-fat, and low-cal, but it’s MUCH easier to stick to that if I start the day with a big breakfast. This is exciting because I have tried so many diets that haven’t worked. It’s hard for me to lose even one pound and keep it off. But I think I’ve finally found the plan that works for my body!
I don’t think I can take any credit for this, but there has been major progress. My young nieces are sight-singing simple melodies.
For years, I had been inventing complex music games for them. The kids had fun, and they excelled at rhythm, but they couldn’t remember intervals. My sister suggested (kindly) that I was probably moving too fast.
This year, we just stuck to singing combinations of do-mi-sol for several weeks. Then (at their request!), I wrote down the same combinations on music paper. They were able to read them instantly with almost no effort. How cool!
Children are just miraculous.
I am so impressed with Hans Orberg’s textbook series. It is such an intuitive approach to reading Latin at a high level! I think that if I simply read his first book (Pars I) several times this year, I will get the solid grounding that I’ve always wanted to have in Latin.
My sister and I just took our first Irish Dance class. We tried an instructional video a couple of years ago but it didn’t really keep our interest, so now we’re going to try the real thing. Here goes…!
I just got cast as Leonora in a local production. This role has been on my wish list for a long time. Happiness.
Did this with three friends today at Balboa Parasail in Newport Beach, CA. It was a birthday present from my friends, who knew that this had been on my list for a while. We had a blast! The sensation is amazing. Imagine flying ABOVE a flock of birds. It was a gorgeous day: we had warm sunshine, fresh breeze and a cloudless sky to enjoy our panoramic view of the coast. On our way down, the driver dunked us once in the Pacific, which was pretty funny, and then set us gently on the boat. A perfect birthday treat for me. :)
Well, I started in June with modest rides of 12, 18, 24, 30, and 36 miles and I’m starting to get in shape! On Saturday, I did 46 miles and felt fantastic. I’m on a mountain bike with big two-inch tires, so the hills are challenging. I hope to do 65+ by the end of the summer, and 100 by the end of the year. We’ll see…
I have a fantasy of a garden that’s half-way between an Italian sculpture garden with and a Japanese flower garden with cherry blossoms and bridges and waterfalls. Someday I hope to make it real!
I love languages, and this is my new challenge for 2011. My sister and I have decided to take an online Biblical Greek course. Excited!
Well, the agents aren’t coming to me. So I have to go to them!
I have set up 2 auditions in Germany, and I have 2 more who are interested. I’d like to get at least 5 appointments before I buy the plane ticket…
