plant a garden
but need a bigger one as this ones full! 1 year ago

I could re-design this garden, but I don’t have the motivation as I hope we will be able to move house next year to somewhere smaller but with a larger garden and then I can start all over from scratch!!
I love trees and I’d really like a plot that has a couple of large trees in one area that would be ideal for a shady garden with ferns and spring flowers. But I want the space to be big enough for lots of variety. I’d also like an open wildflower meadow area and a pond bigger than the one we have now.

take a life drawing class
again! 1 year ago

I used to do this and it’s really the only thing I’ve ever done where I totally lose track of time once I’m into it. I’m not great but it completely focusses me away from my thoughts and into the here and now of the activity. I have all the gear, and could just draw, but I am not motivated.

take exercise each day
more activity will be a good thing for both of us... 1 year ago

I am sure we’ll sleep better and I won’t be as irritable if I don’t have twitchy legs. What will we do though? Swim, walk, dance, do prescribed exercises?

finish the jigsaw we started
will do! 1 year ago

looking forward to it…

go to the north-west of Scotland again
North-West... 1 year ago

take at least 50 photos a week
only 50? 1 year ago

get the campervan sorted
yes let's 1 year ago

then we can get out and about and that will help you achieve another of your 43 things – getting back to Scotland!

reduce my environmental footprint
start small but aim big.... 1 year ago

I live in an ordinary house which means I am going to live a big footprint behind – all the services I am linked into, even if I don’t use them, have already done lots of damage – power lines, water systems etc.
The ideal would be to build an eco-home like they have in Hockerton near Nottingham. http://www.hockertonhousingproject.org.uk/SEFS/ID.1351/SEFE/ViewItem.asp Well worth a visit for inspiration, as is Centre Alternative Technology at Machynlleth http://www.cat.org.uk/index.tmpl?refer=index&init=1
My starters for 10 – things I am already doing -
1 no more flights
2 recycle as much as poss
3 use energy saving light bulbs
4 turn lights off when not in use
5 turn heating down a degree and put more clothes on when cold
6 share bathwater or take a shower
7 put bricks in toilet cisterns
8 buy local food and grow your own
9 eat less meat – preferably organic if you must
10 insulate your home as much as possible

I would love to get rid of the car but the public transport is awful locally and not safe to ride a bike either and my partner has rheumatoid arthritis, so that’ not a compromise we can easily make yet…

learn to play all the amelie piano music
accordion 1 year ago

I have been playing piano since I was 7 and now I’m 37 I am learning the piano accordion – the Amelie music is one of those soundtracks that encourages me to learn, I just need to get the soundtrack on CD or the sheet music – to help me along!
