Surely there are more people from the city by the bay who want to join me with this…c’mon kids, add an entry!

Still quite a few months out (15 or so!) but since it has stiff competition with all the prior birthdays, figured I should start thinking about it now. (That said, my 29th involves houseboats on Lake Mead, so hell. Going to have to REALLY compete.)
I’m getting there, but travel, life, etc. seem to get in the way. Posting at least one thing a day is a lofty goal, but one I’ll try to meet. (Minus the weekends. They don’t count. They’re for long naps and long walks and a ton o’ laziness.)
Completely worth it – only ‘warning’ I’d give you is that if you get a puppy by yourself, be prepared to be quite overwhelmed and tied to responsibility for some time…probably a year. If you travel for work a lot (like I do) it’s even harder…I’d make sure you find either a) a good dog walker/pet sitter or b) have a close support network (as cheezy as that seems) of family and friends. Doing it alone has been an eye-opening experience in reality – and finances.
But, worth it. 120% worth it.
I did this a bit too quickly since it was moving from Atlanta to San Francisco, I had limited time and no passengers save for two howling cats in the back seat. I’d love to do it again over the course of a week or two with good company. (At least I had good tunes this time…)
(It’s called my Birthday, aka, June, aka, “The Month of Aubrey”. Just invest in some good friends who will come by and help you clean up the next day (bribe them with free leftover food/drink. That seems to work.)
...though I would highly recommend not wearing a strappy dress and being at a very southern Steeplechase. Save this one for late night at country bars, kids.
Maybe one of these days I’ll do it, but for now, I think I’ll spend my 4th of Julys wherever I want…NOT in HOT HOT HOTlanta.
I’ve now got 2 – just rented out the townhouse and moved into a new (old – 1925 – but renovated) home which I love. Knowing that my $$ isn’t being thrown away makes writing those checks each month easier.
Not easy, mind you, and you have to stick to the mentality that no, you CANNOT put it on a credit card (better yet, rip them up!) but not writing that check to American Express each month has made everything else easier (i.e., getting a new house, going to dinner w/o feeling stressed, etc.)
Got her from a man who was going to give them to the humane society so indirectly rescued my darling puppy.
Totally worth it. Some dry-eye and the surgery was harder than expected, but still, totally life-changing.
...and I still envision myself moving there one day (perhaps soon.) Love it.
I wouldn’t mind losing 10 lbs. of fat and gaining 5 lbs. of muscle. That said, if my shoulders/arms get any bigger from kickboxing, we’re going to have to invest in some new shirts.
Depends. I’m glad I went, despite my student loan years later, but I won’t go again. At the time, I wanted an advanced degree because I wasn’t ready to stop going to school (i.e., went straight from undergrad) but I didn’t know what I wanted out of it. My only words of advice: know WHY you want to go, and weigh it against years of paying it back. Will you get out of it what you expect?
Definitely worth doing…if you’re anything like me, you may want to invest in some wrist braces (or a friend who will stay sober with you, thank you Biz!) because every now & again a sidewalk or street curb will just pop out of nowhere and cause you to trip, fall, break your sober friend’s glasses and sprain your wrist.
See? DEFINITELY worth doing.
