sing the national anthem at a ball game.
I sang the Star-Spangled Banner 2 years ago

Today – Friday, January 26, 2007 – I sang The Star-Spangled Banner at 4:00 p.m. at my school for the tripple-header basketball game for Homecoming. (At my school, we do not have a football team so we do homecoming according to basketball season.)

I like to thank the school chorus teacher for her advice. I used my electronic voice recorder to record the A flat that I begin on, as she recommended listening to the starting note seconds before one starts singing the national anthem.

This was the first time I sang The Star-Spangled Banner in public. For the 5:30 p.m. game, the girls basketball game, the school’s most talented young soprano sang. She is a very good singer. Unfortunately, the microphone was too close, so we heard some feedback; otherwise, she is a very good soprano.

I would have stayed for the third game to hear the schools most talented tenor, and probably the most talented young tenor in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. However, I am not a night-time person. I start to zone out at 9:30.

Once again, the experience was of great joy to me. I hope I will be able to sing The Star-Spangled Banner at future public events. (I am on the swim team, and maybe for the next swim meet!) Anyways, it was great.
