In racing many jockeys “flip” their food , basically they eat till you allmost pop while drinking tons of soda,,then the finger tickle and out it comes,,most jockeys rooms have a special toilet we all the “flipping bowl which is larger than a normal toilet and can flush the load easier…For most of us its just the need to eat i just can,t be turned off, when your body lives in an existance where you basically starve every day it is the only way to manage the weight,,In the last year iv flipped every day at least 3 times a day,,And it was killing me,Iv tried all the pills and the diets and nothing works when your natural weight is 140 and your living at 110 ” flipping was the only way…For the past week iv been good and have managed to stop, its been hard trust me but with friends and will power im getting it done,,I found that eating a little fish and some steaamed green veg im keping it down and the weight as well,,If anybody is struggeling with this problem im happy to talk about it and if I can help…

If you have ever watched a race on T.V you will have noticed men in the gate with the horse and jockeys thee guys are the Gate Crew, and they are there to save us when a horse flips out in the gate,,imagine your on a 1200 pound animal that i highly wound up and uper fit and surrounded by a non moving ton of metal trust me you will be glad thee guy are with you..In mt mind they are jut like the bullfighters you see at the rodeos and to be honet they don,t get the recognition they deserve..Twice tonight I had my ass saved by the crew..Cheap horses acting crazy and trying to flip over on me believe me its not a good feeling ..Next time you watch a race check there guys out they deserve every bit of credit they can get…
It really gets hard to control the weight when the weather cools downn I,v allways hated getting in the sauna before a race I just feel that it drains my energy level so much,I think its because im from Ireland and really Don,t do that well in the heat ,,I rarely go to the beach or lay out Im fair skined so i burn,,Usually when its warmish outside I put on plenty of cloths and can loose 3 or 4 pounds by riding out in the early morning then I try get a good sleep during the day and that sets me up for the nights races,,NOT anymore I woke up this morning and weighed my self,,The scales read 116 pounds ” shit’ was my initial thought as that night I had to do 112 remember that must include all mt cloths and saddle..I went in to the track and exercised 7 horses ,I had on 3 sets of long johns 3 undershirts a sweater and 2 jackets I thought that would knock off at least a couple of pounds,,My agent and I hit the 7 11 everyday for a coffee and discuss the nights mounts,,When we were done I went to the jockeys ro and went to check my weight and it reads a glorious 116 I did,t lose a thing,,So plan b..I turned on all the sauna and steam room switches and then junped in the hot/tub untill they warmed up..After an hour in the tub I hit the sauna and went back and forth between the 2..After 2 hours I,d had enough and went out to see if i,d made a dent in the scales..113 not too bad..I guess i could lose another pound with a good sleep,,By the time 4 o clock rolled around I hit the jockeys room to sign in and get ready for my first mount at 7.30..By the time i got all my sweating done I,d managed to lose 6 1/2 pounds i total not too bad for one day…My first ride finished 2nd and i was pretty happy with the way he had gone it was the first time i,d sat on him and i told the trainer he,d win the next time if he can find a little longer race..Im tired now so i,ll wrap this up out of four rides i had a win a 2nd and a 3rd the other finished 5th on so really not a bad night ..For the nights work i,d made about 1300 dollars you might think thats good for a days work but ask yourself if you could lose 6 1/2 pounds in a day and then go ride mad acting racehorses,, Anyway im off to bed and have to face into the same process again tomorrow,,If it keeps being this hard i might head down to florida for the winter where its warm ad easier to keep the belly off..Later
