I took French all four years of high school and I am also taking it now in my first year at college. I would love to learn French because it’s the language that my grandparents were able to communicate with when they met each other. During the Vietnam War my grandfather (Hawaiian-American) was obviously in the war and met my grandmother (Vietnamese) at a cafe. She was the cashier and when he went to pay his bill she didn’t understand English that well. He asked he if she spoke French and luckily she did! The rest is almost like a classic love story. Growing up I watched French films with my grandparents and ever since then it’s been one of the top ten things on my to-do list.

I want to become fluent!

I am Vietnamese, I can understand the language perfectly but I never really practiced speaking the language. I can speak it a little bit here and there, but it’s just not enough to get by on my own.
