After failing all my classes last semester, I’ve actually managed to drop my GPA down to about 1.7 and that 3.0 I was hoping for is starting to seem like a pretty unrealistic goal.

How I did it: My friend is a hair stylist, so i had her come over to my boyfriend's basement. We bleached my hair, then we dyed it blue, and then we decided to cut it really short. The change was pretty drastic, so I was pretty shocked at first. It took me a couple days to get used to, but after that I absolutely loved it. Read how I did it…
How I did it: This one was a girl scout trip. We spent most of the day out on the river. Getting back proved to be a bit of a challenge though- it was all upstream, so we had to paddle fast to keep the current from dragging us back in the wrong direction. Read how I did it…

This goal is really an ongoing process, but I’ve come really far from where I was. I’ve learned a very important lesson, and that is: I don’t need the approval of others in order to feel validated as a person. I can love myself as I am just by finding and doing things that make me happy.
I’m taking summer classes right now, so there’s not as many people. It’s far less intimidating to speak up in front of 10 people than it is in a class of 200 or more. If i get used to it now, I might be more likely to speak up in my moderately sized classes of 30-ish people when i go back in the fall. I’m not too concerned about trying to talk in giant lecture halls though- nobody else does either.
