I feel like I’m one of the few Caucasians in this situation, so it gets pretty frustrating sometimes. Styling it has been really difficult. But my last Chi straightening treatment was in early January, so I’ve been transitioning for seven months now! Go me! Sometimes I wonder if I’m doing the right thing, because I hated my hair so much before I started straightening it, but I think that now that I’m older I’ll know how to take better care of it and be proud of being different, instead of just wishing I looked like everyone else.

When I was a child, I took piano lessons for a year and hated it. I complained about going every day (week?) and eventually my parents let me quit. This summer, I got out my old piano books again, and I’m trying to teach myself to play. I definitely enjoy teaching myself a lot more than being instructed, and it’s a lot more fun when I’m not being forced to do it! I’ll probably never be very good, but I’m just doing it to have fun, so that’s all that matters. (: I’ve been practicing almost every day and I’ve seen a lot of improvement already.
Finished A Wolf at the Door, Choke (even though it wasn’t on my original list either – I wanted to read something by Palahniuk before he came to Atlanta), and Emma! Now I’m on to A Clockwork Orange.
