Wow, I’d totally forgotten this site existed!
This goal is still going strong, and I’m crossing more films off the list. However.. there’s been a bit of a reshuffle..
The list is now no longer 157 films.. it’s grown to around 200. I know when I started this that a big problem was everyone wanting to see their own personal favourites on the list, and I would blankly refuse to add it. But then I met my husband-to-be, who conveniently has a degree in Film Studies, and we sat together and added a few more flims onto the list which have a deserving place upon it (as well as films which we were both convinced must be on the list but in fact weren’t).
So, added to the list are as follows:
158. Gattaca
159. Dead Poets Society
160. Chariots of Fire
161. Leon
162 – 164. Lethal Weapon (trilogy)
165 – 168. Die Hard (series)
169. Bowling for Columbine
170. Spirited Away
171. Ali
172. Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring
173. Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
174. Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
175. Amelie
176. Blues Brothers
177. American Beauty
178 – 180. Indiana Jones original trilogy
This takes the total up to 180 films.. which sounds a lot more daunting. However, in the 2 years since my last post I have seen a great deal of these films, as follows:
8. Gladiatior – Romans. Fighting. Not too bad, probably won’t watch again.
16. One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest – Jack Nicholson.. Crazy or not? Strangely enjoyed it.
18. Casablanca – Really enjoyed this one. Finally understood the ‘Camille’ episode of Red Dwarf.
41. The Great Escape – Finally got around to seeing it, bloody good fun.
67. Metropolis – Came free with the Sunday Paper.. Can see why it must have been groundbreaking at the time.
119. Heavenly Creatures – Words just cannot describe how you feel after watching it. Just.. yeah.
158. Gattaca – Bloody brilliant. Sci-fi, but not quite, very very good.
159. Dead Poets Society – Coming of age film with Robin Williams. Fantastic.
169. Bowling for Columbine – First time with Michael Moore. Not impressed in the slightest. One of the few films on the list so far I can say I really didn’t like.
172 – 174 – Lord of the Rings – Absolutely fantastic, regardless of how well they keep to the books. Huge, epic films. Awesome.
175. Amelie – Cute french chick, photo booths, strange old men painters. What more do you need?
177. American Beauty – Utter brilliance.
So there we go.
43 films, all told.. which is rather fitting given the website.. which leaves only 137 left to go.. :-D
Wish me luck!
