Full Blast UKG! 10 months ago

Full Blast! UKG is my monthly at Club Contour here in Seattle.

Full Blast is Seattle’s only club night focusing on the genre known as UKG (UK Garage). It is definitely the only one in the Pacific Northwest, maybe the West Coast. I’m gonna do my research before I make that last claim.

If bassline is hot in 2009, I called it.

Things are getting better as we end 2008. Way better.

I was kind of down in the dumps after a long stretch of disappoinments. Every day I walked around thinking that I couldn’t get out of things, there must be something wrong with me, why this, why that, negative self-talk bullshit, etc.

It started with my birthday party at a nightclub here in town this past Tuesday. Having the birthday party made me realize just how many friends I have who care about me and love me. The turnout (on a TUESDAY!) was full of good vibed people blessing me with well wishes. I was blown away!

Then I took a road trip to Portland this weekend with a friend to a party he was DJing at. I got just what I’ve been looking for: connecting with amazing people who love the music, are full of good spirits and mostly aren’t fucked off! Sick of meeting fucked off people! It lifted my spirits and made me feel like I am most definitely being taken care of.

2008 for the win!

Get better at spinning records

I was mixing a couple of days ago while my roommate freestyled on top of it. Then suddenly in a mix me and my roommate look at each other and go, “DAMN THAT’S SICK!!!” It was the sickest mix I have pulled off to date.

Nice to pull off sickness once in a while. :)

I have realized over the past few days my mixing skills have gotten better. WAY BETTER. My roommates and friends think I should start playing out but being the overachieving ass I am I want more time.

I remember what Joe Nice told me: “If not you, then who, and if not now then when?”
