Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

ran 1 mile – NO STOPS – the other day. Now (unrelated) my foot hurts again.

I try to order things I wouldn’t make at restaurants. Love the seafood stew at Olive Garden. Also tried curry at Pad Thai. Yum and yum.

what is meaningful...

to one person is not necessarily so to another. did get back to some journaling trying to process the cancer experience that’s occupied me for 1.5 years. It is helpful and meaningful to me.



Play the piano more
played Christmas music

Spent MUCH time with handbells for 3 years – including playing in a professional ensemble and directing. Even got to play with MN Orchestra. Thrill of a lifetime. Piano took a backseat, but is still a worthy goal.

Not doing much, but my life took a major detour with cancer, so that took MUCH time and effort – still does.

My first 5K was the Race for the Cure in May 2010. No stopping! Bi-lateral mastectomies and reconstruction later that month. Tough recovery because back latisimus muscle was moved. Now regaining strength and can almost run a mile again.

3 day walk for breast cancer

I signed up to do the Twin Cities walk today to celebrate my 10 year anniversary from the first cancer.

I have several projects that I’m postponing while I make lots of cards. I look forward to getting back to them – it’s like re-living the trip.

Bindings are my bain

Actually, just finished daughter’s graduation quilt (5 yrs. late, but awesome.) Need to bind yellow and blue quilt, bind music wall hanging quilt, bind small wall hanging.

Ach, it’s so much more fun create and to put together than to do the mundane finishing work.

Had some major surgery that effected muscles. Now getting physical therapy and posture retraining. I’m optimistic, but it’s a long process.

starting new projects

started a memory quilt for my daughter. “Crayon box” the block sew up very quickly. Also doing a 2” memory square quilt with fabrics I’ve use in other quilts and misc. Fun!

blueberries

Ever since I was a kid, I have not liked the texture (skin and seeds) of most fruits. I’d eat blueberries in muffins or scones. I know they are really good for you. I tried some yesterday and they were OK. I’ll have to keep trying them. Unfortunately they are pricey, but not as bad in the summer.

Straightened shoulders

Just reading this, I straightened my shoulders. I am also trying to exercise regularly. That helps alot.

Ich kann es verstehen

I got Think and Speak Advanced German from the library and I can understand 90% of the dialog. It uses a lot of past and future tense as well as complicated sentence structure. Gut fur mich.

sewed more strips

trimmed edges of quilt. Did about 70 inches, have about 18 to go. sewed more strips to add. Hope I don’t run out of fabric.

found border fabric

After a misstep, where the light blue was too periwinkle, I found a good border fabric and sewed a few more strips.
