It helps that I had French in high school. A lot of Spanish is just a new way of pronouncing French, and in some cases English.
What I do is watch TeleMundo and UniVision. They have a lot of fun shows. Sometimes it seems that even the newscasters want to cut loose and do a little Latino dance. :-)
It also helps to watch movies with Spanish audio and English subtitles. I’ve also noticed that the Spanish audio and the Spanish subtitles often don’t match exactly. What’s that about?

There’s nothing in the streets
Looks any different to me
And the slogans are replaced, by-the-bye
And the parting on the left
Is now parting on the right
And the beards have grown no longer overnight
I’ll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I’ll get on my knees and pray
We don’t get fooled again

It’s fun. If you go to a fortune-teller who knows you, the results will be amazingly accurate.
My favorite fortune-teller used to be Alan Greenspan.
