I sent in my proposal for OSCON a couple of weeks ago so I believe I’ve done this. The good news is that XTech accepted me so I’ll be going to Paris in May. W00t!

Finally wore the t-shirt and I got lots of looks and questions. Who knows, maybe that will help more people find the site.
I sent in another proposal, this time for Where 2.0. It’s about putting portal-type information on a map for the user interface. We’ll see what happens there.
Next up is OSCON with proposals due at the beginning of February.
Last year, I lost 50 pounds and went from a 48-inch waist to 40-inch. I decided not to put a number of pounds to lose resolution together instead focusing on my body shape. Not sure if it will help or not but it will just keep me moving forward.
And I’m going to try again. I sent in one for XTech and I’ll be shooting for OSCon and maybe some others.
I was at the gym today and one of the girls there who I see every morning said she admired me because of the hard work I’ve put in. This meant a lot and it just reminded me how little comments can totally make someone’s day.
I definitely need to do that more, hopefully each day.
I made a concerted effort to drink more water. No soda during the day at work and none at home. It isn’t always easy but the benefits are awesome.
I’ve lost 50 pounds since May and while just drinking the water didn’t do it, it was a bit part of it I believe.
I’ve had the box set of season 1 for over a year and have only watched the start of the show. I need watch it since I loved the show when it was first on TV. Though I’m not totally sure if I was in love with the show or Sherilyn Fenn.
I’m lucky at work that one of the vending machines has plastic bottles of water. I can get one in the morning and refill it during the day. It makes keeping up with this goal much easier.
I’m definitely drinking more water during the day whereas before I was having soda if I was thirsty.
Now, I need to focus on this more at home and on the weekends.
I think I have some cool ideas about code, writing projects, etc but I’ve found myself just checking blogs or surfing the Web instead of actually doing something.
Hopefully, writing this down for everyone to see will help.
I’ve been trying to think of ways to use the API and haven’t quite done so yet. I’m sure I will start by just writing a wrapper to it in either Java or Python but that’s kind of boring.
One possible idea would be to create a little portal-type view where you could pick and choose which lists to watch.
Well, I hoped I could do it and luckily nothing conspired against me. The kids played w/ their new toys and I read.
It was definitely a great way to get into the proper mindset for the new job.
I went to school in Chicago and loved it. From taking the El to Wrigley during the summer or seeing the Christmas windows at Marshall Field’s, anytime you can visit is well worth it.
I start a new job on the 27th and it’s become my tradition to read Microserfs before I start. Even though the job isn’t at a startup, I like to keep the feeling as long as possible.
It’s the thing to do right now and I finally have something to build for work. Basically, it will be a build management tool so folks can get info about what build is being done than constantly asking me.
