My grandfather was Scottish so I’ve always been interested in Scotland. Recently, reading the Diana Gabaldon “Outlander” series, I have come to yearn for it. From the Outer Hebrides to the top of Ben Nevis – I want to see it all. One day I will wander the highlands under starry skies and sleep in the heather.
This is the quintessential imagery of China – the pinnacle hills carpeted in lush vegetation, rising from the still waters of… what? A lake, river? I have been mesmerized by this imagery since I was a child. I must go there some day. Amy Tan’s The Joy Luck Club has some wonderful descriptive prose.
