This is such a worthwhile goal. I have been growing my locs for a year and a half. For the first time in my life I feel free from the artificial pressures of hair. Like India says, “I am not my hair…I am not your expectations, no!”
I’ve also met a lot of interesting people as a result of conversations started over my locs.

I recently saw this film. It illustrates how boys raised in the hood around all the daily urban drama can excel when given the opportunity to be removed from that hellish environment. The boys are educated in Kenya at the Baraka School for one year and they flourish. Unfortunately, 911 happens and the school is shut down. UGHHHHH!
Is there anyone out there interested in tackling this one?
