Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

I’ve started doing this, but only a little bit. I started stretching everyday which feels great and then a do a couple repeats of a string of yoga poses. But I need to learn some more.

I’m going to start trying to jog a little bit everyday and see how I improve in how long I can jog without stopping.

(Keep in mind that before today I hadn’t jogged in probably a year haha)

So, I was torn on this one because I’m probably moving out of Austin in August of 2012 and I can’t finish school by then and I don’t want to deal with ANOTHER transfer, especially to one in another state and have to figure out if all the classes I plan on taking here in Austin are what I need wherever I go in Oregon. Blah blah blah. BUT I want to be taking classes again. I feel like I’m not doing anything towards my degree.

SO… some of the other teachers at the school are in the CDA program right now which I found out is free for the teachers at CDC. So I think I’m going to go through that program just as an extra little boost in the work world. And that will go towards my teaching certificate if I ever decide to go for that.

I’m attending a volunteer orientation next month for “Front Steps,” which is an organization that helps the homeless community here in Austin.

I also may take up some volunteer opportunities at the Down Syndrome Association.

What a stressful day.

I just jumped through flaming hoops to pay a bill today… the first credit card bill I’ve paid in quiiiiite awhile. Yeah, no judging here! I know you’ve done it! lol

So I paid the first bill of a new settlement plan. Too bad it’s only one of three cards. But I’m happy to at least start something because I’ve been neglecting them for too long. I’ll be calling up the second card tomorrow to figure something out.

Ugh. Stressful. Damn 18-year-old me for thinking it was a good idea to get a credit card.

I've been painting.

I painted this the other day for my boss. I woke up and just did it and then took it to work a couple hours later.

I also painted a landscape of the cliffs of moher for my parents, but didn’t get a picture of it before I sent it in the mail.

And I also painted something abstract for a friend, but also didn’t get a picture of that.

I write postcards to my friends back home where I grew up allll the time, but they’re not very faithful pen pals, which is fine. I’m hoping to find some new people to write to and perhaps receive some snail mail from them as well.

I feel like

just since Thanksgiving I’ve made incredible progress on this goal. I work at a school now that I absolutely love instead of at Jamba Juice, I’m making progress on my weight loss, I feel more confident about myself.

Now I just need to micro-manage what I’ve already achieved, meaning I need to start chipping away at my immense debt.
