...any danger can be worth experiencing, if you can handle it and its consequences. Life becomes sweeter and easier if you’ve not lost high value belongings or beloved ones or health state.

We’ve been hit by the 17 August 1999 earthquake in Izmit / Turkey. I was in my 5th floor Istanbul home then, with mom. Shook for 45 seconds with a magnitude of 7.4
Killed 17000 people and hundreds of thousands of citizens became homeless in those 45 seconds.

Absolutely much too far from “fun”, but must admit, it was worth living that moment, just to be better prepared fot the future. To better taste the life when it’s more stable and quiet. I deeply wish this awakening would not cost masses’ lives.

They’re planning to finalize the construction in 2026. At the ceremonial opening, I want to say to my kids “I was here, when they were yet building this wonder”.

So I can be in touch with tolerant people and can express my thoughts without the fear of being opposed as “the other”... So I can ride my bike to places I want to, never lose 3 hours in the traffic for a half mile distance… So I can enjoy the evenings at the bars with canal views… So I can taste the wonderful cheese, beer and genever any time… Most importantly, I can feel socially secure and believe the taxes I pay are being utilized for the society I’m in.
