It was fun for a while, but I stopped bothering. I already have a weblog with private family stuff and a more public one, but keeping things anonymous is annoying, and I suffer from a lack of interest in writing if I don’t know that anyone’s reading.

Well, since I decided to quit the programming game for good, there’s no chance I’ll ever work for MicroSoft. So I am calling this task COMPLETE, even though, technically, the only way I can honestly mark it as complete would be if I died, and then, you know, there would be issues with internet connectivity.

I saw a couple of articles recently about tragic skydiving accidents resulting in death. And sure, people die all the time from skydiving, and a great many more people skydive without incident. But for me it just really struck me, now that I’m a father, that I really can’t just do crazy shit like this whenever I want to. It’s a weird feeling, but I don’t mind it. It just means I won’t be skydiving for a while, if ever. So long, skydiving!

Back in 1996 I did this. Bleached my hair bright, bright blonde with Sally Beauty Supply industrial hair bleach. It was a painful experience—that shit burns. But whatever, it was worth it. If I can find and scan in my student ID photo from that period I will. I guess it was worth doing, but.. I didn’t really get anything good out of it except a scalp rash for a couple of weeks and several months of very bright hair.
I suppose most people who want to be a blonde for the summer will use some sort of “subtle” “hair tint” or whatever. Those people are like snakes: nature’s quitters.

It was a really, really good show. Saw them in Seattle after their first record came out… I think it was at the Crocodile Cafe.
