I realized the other day that I had the opportunity to buy something, I can’t remember what, and I put it back on the shelf because I would only be buying it to convey and image, to fill a perceived hole in my personality. But I’m fine. It was great.

I think I’m pretty good at this already. I’m not sure how I’ll know when I’ve done it, maybe when I no longer get the urge? As it stands when I get stressed or upset I find myself on half.com or etsy or something and have to talk myself down, sometimes right when I get there but sometimes I get all the way to the checkout page and realize what I’m doing. I think maybe when it’s not such an automatic response I’ll know I’ve gotten on top of it.

Working on this. I use mint to get a clear view of where my money is going. I’m not quite there yet with my budget, it’s a slow process but I’m starting to see little improvements, mostly in the way I think about where my money and the choices I make.
