Getting close... 9 months ago

I am really, really sorry that the economy is so bad right now and that so many people are losing their jobs and homes. However – that has, in turn, made it an almost ideal time for my husband and I to buy a home. I am looking forward to buying and settling into a home this year before September. I am 2 months away from reaching my goal of saving $30K, and I am currently about 8 weeks pregnant. We need to be in a home before I have the baby, so as soon as this pariod of extreme constant nausea subsides, I am going to get started. We live in the SF Bay Area where home prices were greatly over-inflated before this recession (depression) and we were going to have to either leave the area or buy in a less desirable area, or end up in a condo or townhouse which would be difficult to make work for us. With the changes going on, we will be able to buy in our desired area with a great shcool district, and will be able to get a home that has the space that we need to have to be there long-term. I know that we may initially lose money on our house because I believe that values will continue to go down for a while, but we don’t plan on turning around and selling it anytime soon, so I can live with that. We are not buying an investment – we are buying a home to live in for a long, long time.

Almost there... 9 months ago

I should be at my goal in March! Got behind a couple of months – we took a vacation that we hadn’t planned on, had my husband’s 40th birthday party, Christmas, yadda yadda yadda… but I am almost there! This feels really good.

Yay! 9 months ago

We did it, we did it! It only took us 2 months, and I am pregnant! (Thank you ClearBlue Easy fertility monitor…) I decided to just start right away with a fertility monitor because of our ages (I am 35, hubby is 40.) I felt that with our ages, it is better to just get the show on the road rather that to just wait and see what happens. The fretility monitor was a little pricey, but worth every penny, I highly recommend it for anyone concerned about how long it may take to conceive. We decided on our anniversary trip in October that it was time, but it was alreay too late for that month. It didn’t work in November, but December was the ticket. Marry Christmas to us! According to my calculations I am somewhere around 7 or 8 weeks. I have my first pre-natal appointment next Friday, I can’t wait! I was kind of superstitious that it on Friday the 13th, but the thought of rescheduling for a leter date is unthinkable. Maybe I will get a good surprise and find out I am having twins! That would be awesome, that means I would only have to go through this ALL DAY sickness one time. I know it would be harder for our first to be twins, but we have some great family and friends around us, and we are established in our careers and financially, so we are in a pretty good position to handle a little bit more if that is the case. YAY!!! SO excited. I will be even more excited once I start feeling better.
