I’ve been driving for years, but moved to Kansas City from Nebraska recently. Now I need a certificate of birth abroad from the State Department since my parents were in the air force and I was born overseas.
I mailed the notarized request this morning, so in 4-8 weeks (yay government) I should have my certificate. I’ll get my license that very same week.

Today I sent off the form (DS-1350) to the department of state for my certificate of birth abroad. It’s proof of my citizenship even though my parents were overseas (air force) when I was born. 4-8 week processing time, but I did pay the extra for overnight delivery when the processing is complete.
One step closer to getting my KS driver’s license!

I was born overseas to air force parents stationed in Spain at the time. I need to get a special document from the Dept of State, since my actual birth certificate is in Spanish, and only proves my spanish citizenship!
I’ve never needed this before. My military ID sufficed when I lived at home, and my nebraska driver’s license worked after that. Now I’ve moved to kansas city, and I need it.
