It seems to me that that vast majority of books published in our time are wholly without substance. Books like The DaVinci Code and anything by James Patterson (not to mention the plethora of books full of political nonsense) among lots of others offer a decent story if that’s all you’re after, but where are the Hemmingways, Fitzgeralds, Dickens, Tolstoys, Brontes, Harper Lees, Huxleys, of our day? How does one seek out the literature that is actually literature and not six hundred pages of pointless story telling?

Actually, I did this before I put it on my 43T list, but it was one of the things that I did that prompted me to use 43T more. I did it sort of on accident (likely during one of my uber compulsive times) and then realized it was something I thought I would never be able to do. It was very rewarding, and I decided it was high time to start doing things instead of just floating through life like a lump of crap.
Depending on your field of study, doing a master’s degree might or might not be worth it. I realized after finishing mine that my only option after that was to get a Ph.D. or work at Barnes & Noble. I had planned to do Ph.D. but then I realized that job prospects for me were quite limited so now I am doing a second bachelor’s degree to fix my first bachelor’s and master’s degrees. Blah.
