And I’ve already visited three times. Most recently last year. The first time was over eight years ago.
The country is changing very fast. The people are extremely friendly—this includes the time we were there after the chinese consulate in Europe was bombed (was that in Belgrade?).
It’s a happening place. If I were a little younger and had less responsibilities, I’d move there in a hurry. I think it’s going to explode in the next 20 years like the US did starting around 1930.
Just noticed this new podcast on IT Conversations about The Internet in China. Happy listening!

Consider not buying magazines or books (borrow from the local library). Ditto with music.
Change to generic brands at the supermarket.
Once you’ve got that money in the bank, you’ll find life is more relaxed.
And you may permanently change your spending habits for the good.
Best of luck.

We designed and built our own chicken co-op several years ago. Chickens are too old these days to produce eggs, but we’re happy to feed them and let them loose in the yard.
When they’re producing, the eggs are great.
Cost of feeding is almost nothing. We had a lot of fun building the coop itself.
Check out some of the construction pictures.
